FIRE UPDATE — 8:50 a.m. (Malibu Times)

The Corral Fire that sparked early Saturday morning and raged through Malibu’s canyons burning nearly 5,000 acres is 90 percent contained with no active flames, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

World — Violence erupts in Paris suburb

VILLIERS-LE-BEL, France — Rampaging youths clashed with the police for a second night in a suburb of Paris, hurling Molotov cocktails and setting fire to dozens of cars. At least 77 police officers were wounded and some officers were fired at, a senior police union official said Tuesday.

Sports — Redskins safety Sean Taylor dead at 24

MIAMI — Sean Taylor, a Pro Bowl safety with the Washington Redskins who was shot early Monday by an intruder at his home in an affluent suburb south of Miami, died early Tuesday from his injuries, one of his lawyers said.
