Almost 150 students crammed enthusiastically into CCB 100 Wednesday evening to hear “pitches” from the students that produce the programming for Pepperdine’s television and radio stations TV-32 and KWVS. The pitches were each designed to tell those interested in participating what each show was about and how students could get involved.
The audience almost half of which was standing in the aisles or crammed in corners- wherever they could fit- laughed generously at the pitches and then lined up after to put their names on the sign-up sheets for each show.
Students saw and watched pitches from the radio station and each of the television programs: Newswaves Sports Report Manwaves the Randumb Show and the newest addition to Pepperdine’s TV line-up “Buenos Noches Pepperdine a news comedy show hosted by Newswaves anchor Armando Yee.
The excitment was high for those pitching and those being recruited. It’s my favorite night of the year except for maybe when Gonzaga comes said Tony Simeone, one of Pepperdine’s play-by-play sports commentators. It’s great to get excited again. When you’ve been away all summer you forget how much fun and hard work went into it all.”
Others noted the welcoming and lighthearted atmosphere.
“They didn’t take themselves seriously said Junior Bobby Forrestal, who said he appreciated the lighthearted and welcoming nature of the event. They left the floor open for anyone who wanted to join regardless of their experience level.
