The Entertainment Business Network is once again putting on its annual Fall Fashion show this week. This November will mark the third consecutive year that the EBN has hosted the event, and will take place on Friday, in Joslyn Plaza.
The EBN is a campus wide organization that boasts more than 300 members, all who have some interest in the entertainment business.
The event is designed to allow student models and student designers a chance to demonstrate their talent, and according to former president Stefin Jackson, is meant just to be fun.
“The purpose of the show is to showcase the talent of Pepperdine students and to entertain others,” Jackson said.
The fashion show was originally created by the Executive Board of the EBN, and has always been student run, and organized. This year is no exception.
EBN President Erin Armstrong, said the event will be provide applicable experience to those interested in acting, modeling, and theater as well as public relations, advertising and marketing majors with opportunities to demonstrate what they’ve learned in class.
However, Armstrong also stated that unfortunately this year’s show will only include professional designers as all of the student designers have pulled out of the event due to hectic schedules and prior commitments. This year, donated clothing from local stores including Planet Blue, Pinnacle and Becker will be modeled.
“We have about 12 student models, two-thirds are female,” Armstrong said, “some are professionals and others are amateurs. We also hold a ‘friendly’ model competition with judging based on stage presence, style and personality.”
One of the ‘friendly’ judges is professional model and Seaver student, Julia Kayma.
Music will begin at the event at 5:45 p.m., and the show will start promptly at 6 p.m. Armstrong said she is unsure what the turnout will be but is hoping for as many attendees as possible.
“Because EBN’s objective is to generate as much involvement and as large of an audience as possible, the Extravaganza is free of charge and open to the community.”
