SGA Constitutional Amendments

I) Creation of Housing Senators

II) All Senators to be elected in the September Election

III) General Judicial Council to be sworn in one month later

IV) All Senators and elected positions must be at registered as at least part time.

V) Technology fund Cap

VI) Senators, Class Presidents and Directors can only hold or run for one office at a time.

VII) Executive Board Officers are allowed to only campaign for one office

VIII) Confirmation of General Judicial Director to be done by majority vote.

IX) Allowing former probationary students to serve on General Judicial Council

X) SGA Secretary to follow up on resolutions, not General Judicial Director

XI) Gives power to excuse SGA members’ absences to the President, who can be overruled by a majority vote of the Executive Board.

XII) Removal of Party Affiliations from ballot

XIII) Change date of March election from the third Wednesday of the month to the fourth Wednesday of the month.

XIV) Removal of ability of Executive Board to pass legislation w/o a quorum

XV) Senate, instead of Executive Board, to fill vacant slots within the Senate until the next election.

XVI) Consistency of wording in vacation of office for President and Vice-President

XVII) Unexcused absences instead of excused absences to result in dismissal

XVIII) Title changes for the Executive Board Members

a. SGA Secretary changed to “Executive Vice-President

b. SGA Treasurer changed to “Vice-President of Finance.”

c. SGA Secretary changed to “Vice-President of Administration”

XIX) Removes Freshman Petition Voting Cap

XX) Requiring a ¾ vote to access more than 30% of any individual fund, until that fund is down to 20% of its original size, and then a majority vote for any remaining funds.

XXI) Creates a “Contingency Fund” to ensure that SGA will be financially responsible towards the University.

XXII) Creates a “Special Projects Fund” that is able to put money behind SGA resolutions to see them accomplished.

Changes the 20% of the electorate as a minimum vote count in special elections, to 20% of the votes cast in the election.
