Krystina Sky doesn't disappoint at the Avalon

October 15, 2012 by Kayla Ferguson

Although not quite as big as the crowd she played to at the Electric Daisy Carnival 2012, Krystina Sky’s performance at the Avalon on Oct. 6 still managed to attract house and trance fanatics.

Not atypical of techno concerts, heavy bass and colorful flashing lights set the mood for the night that was only just getting started with Sky was onstage at 10:00 p.m. Her song choices didn’t differ too much from what was said to have been played at EDC in June and the small crowd wasn’t disappointed as more and more people filed in as the night progressed.

Even though she doesn’t have quite the notoriety of Avicii, Skrillex, DeadMau5 or Daft Punk her performance didn’t disappoint. There is no doubt her popularity would increase if she had a collection of songs that were distinctive of her style, but a Krystina Sky concert isn’t bad for general house and trance fans looking to enjoy some relatively generic but still entertaining mixes.

The weekend previous to Sky’s showing at the Avalon Chuckie entertained a similar fan base, with heavy bass beats and recognizable mixes. Some of Chuckie’s most notable work include “Let The Bass Kick in Miami Girl” a remix of “I’m in Miami Trick” and “Move it to the Drum.”

For those interested in techno, house, trance or the like, be sure to check out the Avalon (as well as some other LA venues) that have a quality line up coming up in the next month:

October 19th – CONTROL presents Firepower Tour: Datsik, Terravita, Xkore, Getter
October 26th – CONTROL presents Claude VonStroke, Justin Martin
October 27th – Avaland presents Erick Morillo
November 9 – The Martinez Brothers @ Vanguard
November 10 – Sonar Festival On Tour @ Shrine Expo Center
