Pepperdine requires students to be up to date with an extensive list of immunizations. As the campus continues to reopen to students, the COVID-19 vaccine should be mandatory as well.
As students learn remotely and live geographically apart, the theme of “belonging” and a common shared Pepperdine experience seem impossible. Pepperdine is more than its Malibu campus, and University administration should reach out more to students who can’t be there in-person.
We cannot change campus opening — that’s happening no matter what — but we should each be responsible to ourselves and others, no matter what that looks like for the individual person. We’ve been resilient; let’s stay vigilant.
As more students descend on Pepperdine’s campus, there are less places to go for student-athletes, who still face much stricter quarantine measures. Some athletes feel the reopening for everyday students is happening before their concerns have been addressed, while some are excited to have the company.
