Senate and House Races 2024 Election Coverage

The Graphic is following several high-profile national races, such as the Senate and the House of Representatives. Scroll down for info and updated results on each race.

The Graphic will report results based on reporting from NBC News, the Washington Post, the AP and Reuters.

Senate

Thirty four states will be holding Senate races in the 2024 election. Fifty seats are needed to secure a majority for a party with control of the White House, while Fifty-One seats are needed for an Opposition Party Majority. Heading into the election, The Democratic Party holds 28 seats and the Republican Party holds 38 seats.

As of 11:56 PM PST, 42 seats have been called for the Democrats (and Senator Bernie Sanders (I-V) who caucuses with them), and 51 have been called for the Republicans, with the latter flipping 2 seats (West Virginia & Ohio) after the retirement of Joe Manchin (D-WV) and the ousting of Sherrod Brown (D-OH). As such, the Republican Party has secured a majority in the Senate, regardless of the Presidential Race’s outcome, after Republican Deb Fischer defeated Independent Candidate Dan Osborn in the Nebraska Senate Race.
