Pepperdine: Street Style Edition

October 9, 2014 by Kristin Vartan

For fashion lovers, inspiration is found on the street just as much as the classroom or your next internship.

If you are an avid style seeker like myself, then you do your street style homework on Pinterest. But who needs some social media app for stylespiration when your fellow Pepperdine students are walking fashion icons?

These three Pepperdine girls represented the university’s style demographic last week: diverse. Style ranged anywhere from girly glam to cutting edge on the Malibu campus.

Pepperdine freshman and sociology major Anna Boerwinkle described her style as feminine, unique and comfortable. “Sometimes that means not wearing pants,” Boerwinkle said. “Dresses all the way!”

Last week, Anna wore a playful, floral printed dress paired with leather sandals. The look is simple, yet put together and comfortable enough for a hike up to the CCB. Boerwinkle said that she is a fan of fun prints and bold colors. “It brings back the fun of being a child,” she said.

Junior, international business and management and French double major and marketing minor, Dominique Leaf was also on our style radar. “My style is feminine, elegant and Victoria Beckham-ish,” Leaf said. She is a fan of neutrals because they are versatile, but still likes to be experimental with her outfits. Last week, Dominique was found near Payson Library in a basic T-shirt and cuffed skinny jeans that were tightened at the waist with a brown belt. To spice up the outfit, she tossed in a black floppy hat and an oversized matching handbag. For jewelry, Leaf wore a gold bangle, Ray-Bans and a small necklace. However, the accessory that pulled the whole look together was her bright red lipstick and the smile behind it.

Pepperdine freshman Katie Greeley’s major may be undeclared but her sense of style last week clearly wasn’t. She wore a lace white dress paired with brown leather shoes and a matching belt. For a pop of color, Greeley added a pink cardigan. “I wear whatever I feel comfortable in,” Greeley said. She also said that her style depends on her mood. She finds style inspiration by looking at other people’s outfits throughout the day.

These three girls all had something in common: they stayed true to their fashion sense. Do the same and you can inspire those around you, and who knows – you might be featured on school street style next time.

Keeping it Krischic,

Kristin
