New Student Profile: Allison Oharra

August 24, 2017 by Alyssa Anderson

Allison Oharra, an incoming freshman, hails from Boise, Idaho. Oharra will soon take the court as a member of Pepperdine’s volleyball team. Oharra said she started playing when she was 8 years old and has loved it ever since. She said her favorite part of volleyball is the team aspect and the use of teamwork to achieve a goal.

When she isn’t playing volleyball, Oharra said she enjoys the social scene, something that has been readily available through the duration of New Student Orientation activities. “I just love meeting new people and hanging out with friends,” she said. “Like last night, we just went out and made a lot of new friends, so that was really cool.”

As an incoming student, she said she has the typical fears of making friends and time management as well as “meeting new people and how those relationships are going to affect me in the future.”

Oharra said her biggest concern is that she will not be able to balance her school work with volleyball and spending time with friends.

Like a lot of Pepperdine students, Oharra said she chose the coastal university because of its beautiful campus, which she said is vastly different than her home in Idaho.

Oharra said she is extremely excited for all that Pepperdine has to offer her and can’t wait for the many teamwork building and bonding experiences during the volleyball season.
