Face in the crowd: Jenny Morgan

November 18, 2004 by Pepperdine Graphic

Tracy Domingo
Assistant Living Editor

Watch out Kelly Ripa (or any other talk show host, for that matter). Pepperdine senior Jenny Morgan is on her way to stealing your job.

Equipped with a relentless smile, Energizer Bunny-like vivacity and a love for the camera, Morgan said she is destined for the entertainment business. In fact, as a television and theater major, her ideal job would be to host her own show much like “Live with Regis and Kelly.”  But first, Morgan said she would probably get rid of Regis because “he’s getting a little too old.”

Raised in nearby Palos Verdes, Morgan grew up as the only girl among a horde of four brothers.

“They are all so protective of me,” Morgan joked. “They’re probably the reason I don’t date.”

To all who know Morgan, it is clear that her unconditional love for her family spills over into her love for life, people and talking. In fact, she describes herself as “that girl” who everyone has to tell a half an hour before they leave a party that it is time to go so she has time to say heartfelt goodbyes to everyone.

“What can I say?” Morgan said. “I’m just a cheeseball.”

Who is your favorite celebrity?

Faith Hill. I think she is stunningly beautiful and yet so down to earth. She is definitely a woman of distinction in that she is so genuine and humble. I went and saw Tim and Faith in concert and it was awesome. I also heard an interview with her and it was so cool because she is just not all into the glitz and glamour. She will like change her kids’ diapers right before she goes on stage … I just think that is so cool.

What are your plans after graduation?

I plan on moving down toward Manhattan Beach or Hermosa Beach and to pursue a career in entertainment.

What were you for Halloween?

I was Goldilocks. Now, I had very innocent intentions with this, but the skirt was really short … I’m not going to lie.

What is your favorite holiday?

That’s a good one. My favorite holiday is Christmas because I get to put out Christmas cookies for Santa with my little brother. Yes, he’s 10, but he’s still holding onto the dream. I know when I was young I was horrified when I found out Santa wasn’t real, so I am just trying to maintain his childhood innocence.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Happily married with lots of kids doing the whole “mom thing,” but still having my own show somewhere in California. I will never leave California by choice.

If you could change one thing about Pepperdine, what would it be?

I would make it so we had a Division I football team. Huge! Also, I would make it so we could have sorority and fraternity houses.

If you could give the underclassmen some advice, what would it be?

To the girls I would probably say to just date while you can and have fun. To the guys, they just need to be way more gutsy and actually ask girls out. I mean come on, it’s ridiculous. I’m here to get the word out … it’s OK to ask the girls out, guys. This is all just silly.

What is something you just couldn’t live without?

My friends, family and coffee. Coffee Bean is my place of choice and I probably go there at least once a day, but that doesn’t mean I don’t get coffee on campus!
