Deutsch rocks in the club with 50 Cent
It is not often that a Pepperdine student turns on MTV or BET and sees one of their classmates in a music video. However, if anyone has seen the music video, “In da Club” by rapper 50 Cent, they have seen freshman Brianna Deutsch in action.
Deutsch, who has been involved in commercials for 10 years, participated in the video randomly.
“It was a fluke thing,” Deutsch said. “I don’t normally do music videos.”
The video, which premiered in January, features Eminem and Dr. Dre and is set in a club.
In the video Deutsch dances in the background and is shown several times throughout the recording.
The video was shot in December in Manhattan Beach. Deutsch began at 1 p.m. the day of the shooting and did not finish until 5 a.m. the next day.
“Acting involves long hours,” Deutsch said. “But I really enjoy it so it’s worth it.”
Now that Deutsch is at Pepperdine, she said it is harder to be involved in acting regularly. However, last summer she was cast as a cheerleader in the “O’Keefes,” a new television series for the WB. Her role is reoccurring in several episodes and will be premiering this summer.
Although she is extremely interested in acting, Deutsch plans on majoring in telecommunications and becoming a television anchor or working in some aspect of the news.
Edwards gets on the big screen ‘Legally’
Junior Mahogany Edwards has been an extra in commercials and television shows, but soon she may be able to see herself up on the big screen.
Edwards recently played a cheerleader during a shoot of the final wedding scene in “Legally Blond II.”
Edwards participated in the eight-hour shoot in a studio in Pasadena last month. The film is not due to be released until July.
Although she does not know how much of her work will be included in the final version of the movie, Edwards said it was a good experience because she was able to see firsthand what goes into producing a film.
“It was a lot of fun getting to work with the cast,” Edwards said. “Reese Witherspoon was really nice and even gave me a compliment on my dress.”
