A glimpse into the life of students, faculty and staff

Seacrest attends Third Eye Blind concert

More then just Pepperdine students anticipated the Third Eye Blind concert held in Firestone Fieldhouse on Saturday.  People from all over the Los Angeles community came to see the show, including television show host and radio disc jockey Ryan Seacrest.

Junior Hannah Farmos was excited to see Seacrest in the audience because she thought she was just coming to see Stephan Jenkins, lead singer of Third Eye Blind.

“The concert was awesome,” Farmos said. “But seeing Ryan made it all that much better.”

Seacrest is a disc jockey on L.A. radio station Star 98.7 and is the host of shows like “American Idol,” “Ultimate Revenge,” “Extra,” “Gladiators 2000,” “Click” and the E! Television red carpet premiere of movies “Tomorrow Never Dies” and “Talk Soup.”

He is currently hosting “The New Edge” and NBC’s “Saturday Night Movie,” so students who did not get a chance to see him at the concert can look for him there.

“People see celebrities around Malibu all the time, but it is not as often that you see a celebrity on campus,” Farmos said.

Pep students short film to show on TV 26

Aspiring actors and actresses love to take any opportunity they can to perfect their skills and star in a short film. Freshman Elice Giorgione did just that when she accepted one of the lead roles in a short film written and produced by senior Julie Sullivan and directed by senior Phil Swickard.

“We took three days to film, but it was so fun that it ended up being a great way to spend my weekend,” Giorgione said.

The finished product will be ready after some final editing in three weeks. Giorgione will also be appearing on TV 26 next fall.

Giorgione has been acting since she was a little girl and in high school she decided she wanted to become a professional actress. She has decided on a contract major of “performing, producing and writing for the news and film industry.”

“I know what I am passionate about so I want to get experience right away,” Giorgione said. “This was a great way of getting it.”
