A glimpse into the lives of students, faculty and staff

Malibu Yo has always been a favorite among many Pepperdine students. But as some students recently learned, the fondness for the small yogurt shop extends far beyond the Pepperdine bubble.
Seniors Zac Luben, Drew Larson, Alyssa Rosenbaum, Lauren Merenich, Jessica Hancox and Kelia Tardiff were all on their way to savor the tasty goodness of frozen yogurt when they spotted one of Hollywood’s popular young actors, Frankie Muniz.
Muniz, who has starred in the popular sitcom “Malcolm in the Middle” and other movie hits such as “Blank Check” and “Agent Cody Banks,” was sitting inside enjoying his yogurt when the group noticed him.
“I knew I recognized him from somewhere,” Merenich said. “Then, when someone mentioned his name, I remembered him from one of the movies I watched with my little brother. I can’t wait to tell my brother I saw Frankie Muniz, he will be so excited.”
Taking a trip to Sav-On Drugs in the Malibu Colony Plaza is usually seen as a mundane and uneventful task. That is, if you don’t run into Britney Spears while you are there.
Seniors Sean Griffin, Jonathan “The Couch” Baker and sophomore Shane Griffin all experienced this first-hand when they spotted Spears exiting Sav-On right when they were arriving.
While celebrity sightings is not an uncommon thing for Griffin, Baker and Griffin, running into Spears was definitely a highlight of their day.
Senior Kellie Kanda had an encounter with the “Governator” recently while working at Banana Republic in Malibu. One of her co-workers told Kanda he had spotted Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger in the Malibu Country Mart and so Kanda and one of her managers went on a quest, running from store to store and following secret service agents, to find him. They finally spotted Schwarzenegger in the Ron Herman store shopping with his children.
