5/17/15 3:28 p.m.

Incidents – Conduct Violation/Obstructing University Officials

Location: Firestone Fieldhouse Lot

Summary: An officer observed a vehicle traveling on John Tyler Drive with a person on the hood. The student refused to provide identification to the Public Safety officer and drove away.

5/17/15 4:33 p.m.

Fire/Hazards – Misc. Rescue

Location: Heroes Garden

Summary: Public Safety received a report from the LA County Fire Department dispatch regarding a university visitor who called 911 requesting rescue from a tree. Public Safety officers responded and determined that the visitor was not stuck in a tree but had flown a toy airplane into a tree. The LA County Fire Department was cancelled and Facilities Services was notified for assistance with removal of the toy from the tree. The visitor was informed of the university policy forbidding the use of radio-controlled airplanes on campus.

Incidents – Suspicious Person

Location: Brock House

Summary: A Public Safety officer responded to a report of a suspicious person hiking below the Brock House. The officer made contact with the individual and verified that they were on campus to attend a Smothers event. The person explained that they were hiking to the flag to enjoy the view on Memorial Day. The guest was cooperative and was warned not to return to the restricted area.

Incidents – Annoying Phone Call(s)

Location: Graziadio Executive Center

Summary: A staff member reported receiving disturbing phone calls from the son of a faculty member.

Information – Information Only

Location: Off Campus

Summary: Public Safety received a report from the California Highway Patrol that an individual claiming to be a university employee was arrested at an off-campus location for driving while under the influence of alcohol.

6/7/15 5:41 p.m.

Incidents – Welfare Check

Location: Off Campus

Summary: A concerned parent of a student at the London program reported that their daughter’s friend experienced difficulty boarding a bus and requested a welfare check. Public Safety officers made contact with the student without incident; the student called their parents to let them know that they and their friend were able to board the next bus.

6/16/15 7:36 p.m.

Incidents – Suspicious Circumstances

Location: Firestone Fieldhouse Lot

Summary: Public Safety officers located a green leafy substance that resembled marijuana in an unattended vehicle with the door found ajar. LA County Sheriff’s Department responded and when both occupants returned they were identified as not being affiliated with the university. Both were warned for trespassing on private property and escorted off campus.

6/19/15 10:34 p.m.

Traffic Related – Traffic Enforcement – Reckless Driving

Location: Malibu Campus

Summary: A Public Safety officer observed a vehicle driving unsafely and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to yield to emergency lights and siren, exiting campus at a high rate of speed on the wrong side of the road. The LA County Sheriff’s Department and California Highway Patrol were informed of the incident.

Service Calls – Animal Call – Misc.

Location: Alumni Park

Summary: There was a report of visitors at Alumni Park with two dogs off their leashes. Public Safety officers responded and escorted the owners off campus due to their refusal to follow the policy.

6/21/15 3:59 p.m.

Incidents – Busy with Citizen Complaint

Location: Malibu Campus

Summary: The son of two faculty members reported that he wanted to file a complaint about being harassed by faculty, staff and students, then abruptly changed his mind.

6/25/15 12:42 a.m.

Crimes – Assault/Battery – Sex Crimes – Forcible Rape, Including Date Rape

Location: Off Campus

Summary: A faculty member received information from a student that he or she had been sexually assaulted off campus.

6/30/15 5:26 a.m.

Crimes – Assault/Battery – Criminal Threats

Location: Off Campus

Summary: A staff member reported obtaining a restraining order against an ex-boyfriend.

8/3/15 1:43 p.m.

Incidents – Suspicious Circumstances

Location: School of Law Student Lot

Summary: Public Safety officers responded to a report of suspicious individuals inside of a vehicle at the School of Law student parking lot. Public Safety officers and LA County Sheriff’s deputies responded and arrested one individual for an outstanding warrant and advised two other individuals of trespassing on private property.

Information – Information Only

Location: School of Public Policy

Summary: A staff member reported discovering a live round of ammunition inside of a desk drawer in the office space of a former university employee.

8/13/15 12:57 p.m.

Incidents – Suspicious Circumstances

Location: Payson Library

Summary: Public Safety officers responded to a report of five minors performing dangerous stunts in front of Payson Library. A mother of one juvenile was contacted and admonished that they need to be under adult supervision while on campus, to which she agreed.
