8/24/15 4:28 p.m.

Incidents – Heat and Smoke Alarms

Location: Richard Rockwell Towers

Summary: Public Safety dispatch received a smoke alarm activation with an immediate reset from a fire alarm control panel; there was no fire or smoke. This was a local alarm that did not require the entire building to be evacuated or a response from the LA Fire Department. The cause was determined to be an unauthorized use of an insecticide fogger.

Traffic Related – Traffic Accident, Non-Injury

Location: Campus Walk

Summary: A visitor in a vehicle backed into a light pole on campus. Minor damage was reported.

Crimes – Drug Related – Under the Influence – Narcotic/Controlled Substance

Location: Alumni Park

Summary: Public Safety officers responded to a report of an odor resembling marijuana. The person in question left the area prior to officers arriving on scene.

Crimes – Larceny/Theft – Grand Theft Of Property

Location: Hayes House

Summary: A student reported the theft of their backpack containing a laptop and other items while they were moving into their dorm.

Location: Off-Campus Location

Summary: The Burbank Police Department informed a student that they were a victim of identity theft.

Traffic Related – Traffic Accident, Non-injury

Location: Off-Campus Location – Malibu Canyon & Seaver Drive

Summary: A student in a vehicle rear-ended another student’s vehicle at an off-campus location. Minor damage was reported.

Incidents – Disturbance – Loud Noise

Location: Lower Dorm Road

Summary: Public Safety officers responded to a loud noise complaint outside of a dorm. Resident students in the area were warned to lower their voices while others were studying and sleeping.

8/27/15 10:15 a.m.

Incidents – Property Damage – Non-Criminal

Location: Center for Communication and Business

Summary: A staff member reported discovering new damage to a university service vehicle.

8/27/15 12:55 p.m.

Incidents – Suspicious Person

Location: Firestone Fieldhouse

Summary: A Public Safety officer responded to a report of a suspicious person. The officer spoke with witnesses, but could not locate the individual in question.

Traffic Related – Traffic Accident, Non-Injury

Location: Phillips Theme Tower Lot

Summary: A visitor drove their vehicle the wrong way through the exit lane over a tire spike strip while looking for a parking space. Three tires were damaged.

Incidents – Disturbance – Loud Noise

Location: Rockwell Towers

Summary: Public Safety officers responded to a loud noise complaint outside of a dorm. The resident students were hosting an authorized event and were asked to lower the volume.

Intoxication – Unable to Exercise Care

Location: Rockwell Towers

Summary: Public Safety dispatch received a phone call from a visitor who lost their vehicle key and was under the influence of alcohol. The individual was warned for trespassing on private property, then escorted off campus by sheriff’s deputies.

Summary: Public Safety officers responded to a loud noise complaint in a dorm. The resident students were warned to turn down their music.

Incidents – Suspicious Person

Location: Main Lot

Summary: A Public Safety officer responded to a report of a suspicious person. The officer made contact with the individual and verified that they are a parent of a current student.

8/29/15 1:13 p.m.

Traffic Related – Traffic Accident, Non-Injury

Location: Rockwell Towers Lot

Summary: A student in a vehicle backed into an unoccupied parked vehicle; minor damage was reported.

Incidents – Suspicious Person

Location: John Tyler Drive

Summary: A Public Safety officer responded to a report of a suspicious person. The officer spoke with witnesses but could not locate the individual in question.

Incidents – Disturbance – Loud Noise

Location: Stotsenberg Track

Summary: Public Safety officers responded to a loud noise complaint outside of a dorm. The resident students were warned for excessive noise.


8/30/15 11:14 p.m.

Possession of Alcohol on Campus

Location: Drescher Student Housing Apartments

Summary: Public Safety officers responded to investigate a report of an alcohol violation in a dorm room.
