Summary: A student reported returning to their vehicle and discovering that their windshield had been damaged.

Location: Richard Rockwell Towers
Summary: Report of an odor of natural gas outside of a building. A Public Safety officer responded and determined the cause was the gas was left on for an outdoor grill; the control knob was immediately turned to the off position.

Incidents – Heat And Smoke Alarms
Location: Thornton Administration Center
Summary: A university employee reported an odor of something burning in an office area; there was no smoke or fire. No response was required from the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Public Safety officers and Facilities Services responded and determined that the odor was related to work being performed on an air conditioning unit next to an air intake.

Location: Malibu Campus
Summary: Public Safety dispatch received a call from a person asking if there had been a report of a possible active shooter on campus. The person stated they had received a text message asking if they were okay. Public Safety officers made contact with the original reporting party on the text message and determined that the report was a result of mistaking Pepperdine University with a social media report of an incident that occurred at a Southern California elementary school named Pepper Tree.

Summary: A parent of a student driving a vehicle collided with another vehicle while attempting to make a left turn at an intersection. Moderate damage was reported.

Summary: A Public Safety officer responded to a report of a suspicious person. The officer made contact with the individual and verified that they are a university vendor.

Summary: A concerned staff member reported that there was a person asleep in their vehicle and requested a welfare check. Public Safety officers made contact with the occupant and verified they were a resident student who fell asleep in their parked vehicle.

Summary: An unauthorized person was warned for trespassing on private property and escorted off campus.

Summary: Public Safety officers responded to a loud noise complaint at the Baxter Drive jacuzzi. Resident students were informed that the jacuzzi is only to be used by university private residents and their invited guest.

Summary: University vehicle vs. fixed object traffic collision. A staff member accidentally struck a safety railing. Minor damage was reported.

Summary: Public Safety officers responded to a loud noise complaint outside of a dorm. The resident students in the area were informed about the authorized hours for the outside basketball court.

Summary: A purse was turned into Public Safety that was left on a shuttle that contained illegal narcotics.

Summary: A University employee reported a burning odor; there was no smoke or fire. Public Safety officers and the Department of Facilities Services responded but the odor had dissipated prior to their arrival. Additional checks throughout the day did not reveal any potential causes.
