2/3/14 11:24 a.m.

Incidents – Suspicious Person

Location: Tyler Campus Center

Summary: There was a report of a suspicious person with no affiliation with the university or official business on campus. A Public Safety officer warned the individual for trespassing on private property and escorted them off campus.

 

2/3/14 4:16 p.m.

Traffic Related – Hit And Run, Non-Injury Accident

Location: Main Lot

Summary: A faculty member returned to their vehicle and noticed new damage. The responsible party left no contact information at the scene. Minor damage was reported.

 

2/3/14 7:47 p.m.

Incidents – Heat and Smoke Alarms

Location: Drescher Apts. Rec. Center

Summary: Public Safety dispatch received a general fire alarm signal. There was no fire. The cause of the smoke detector activation was determined to be burnt food on a stove. The LA County Fire Department was canceled prior to their arrival on scene.

 

2/4/14 2:54 a.m.

Traffic Related – Traffic Accident, Non-Injury

Location: Off Campus Location

Summary: A staff member in a vehicle struck a deer on Las Virgenes Road. Minor damage was reported.

 

2/4/14 1:22 p.m.

Traffic Related – Traffic Accident, Non-Injury

Location: Rho Parking Lot

Summary: A university shuttle bus and U.S. Postal Service truck collided. Minor damage was reported.

 

2/4/14 8:26 p.m.

Incidents – Property Damage – Non-Criminal

Location: Drescher Parking Lot S

Summary: A student reported that their vehicle was damaged by water from a broken irrigation sprinkler head.

 

2/7/14 9:35 a.m.

Traffic Related – Hit and Run, Non-Injury Accident

Location: Seaver Drive

Summary: A vehicle backed into a student’s unoccupied parked vehicle and then left the scene without leaving any contact information. Moderate damage was reported.

 

2/7/14 3:38 p.m.

Incidents – Heat and Smoke Alarms

Location: Hall 12 – Walter Knott House

Summary: There was a fire alarm smoke detector activation. This was a local alarm that did not require the entire building to evacuate or a response from the LA County fire department. The cause was determined to be sunlight that refracted off a mirror and caught a paper calendar on fire. A Public Safety officer extinguished the fire.

 

2/8/14 11:04 a.m.

Traffic Related – Traffic Accident, Non-Injury

Location: TAC Ramp

Summary: A student backed their vehicle into an unoccupied parked university vehicle. Minor damage was reported.

 

2/8/14 6:51 p.m.

Traffic Related – Traffic Accident, Non-Injury

Location: Seaver Drive / Baxter Drive Intersection

Summary: A faculty member lost control of their vehicle while making a left turn and collided with two unoccupied parked cars causing minor damage.

 

2/8/14 11:07 p.m.

Crimes – Larceny/Theft – Petty Theft – Misc.

Location: Smothers Theatre

Summary: A staff member reported that their portable speaker system was stolen from the green room.

 

2/9/14 1:46 p.m.

Departmental – Found Property

Location: Tyler Campus Center

Summary: A found credit card was turned in to Public Safety.
