Pepperdine Women’s Indoor Volleyball opened the month of October with a victory over University of the Pacific at Firestone Fieldhouse. The Waves’ seventh consecutive win came from a 3-0 sweep against the Tigers, advancing them to 11-3 on the season and remaining undefeated in West Coast Conference (WCC) competition.
The Tigers were the first on the board, but the Waves went on a roll to respond. Four straight points with effort from junior outside hitter Chloe Pravednikov and the capitalizing of attack errors from Pacific would be the cause for a Tigers timeout, according to Pepperdine Athletics.
A pair of kills by freshman outside hitter Mariia Nikol Dvornikova paired with the offensive push from Pravednikov and sophomore setter Tristen Raymond would carry the Waves up to 11-5.
Pepperdine held off Pacific’s attempt to close the gap, inching closer to a win after locking down a 25-17 set victory. The Waves have yet to lose a match after taking the opening set, according to Pepperdine Athletics.
In the second set, Pacific fell within three at the score of 9-6, the closest the Tigers would come to the Waves. Pepperdine found an offensive rhythm, putting eight on the board to raise the score to 19-11. The set concluded with a score of 25-13.
Feeding off the energy from the first two sets, Pepperdine made quick work of the Tigers. A group effort from Dvornikova, Maggie Beauer, junior outside hitter and opposite hitter, junior middle blocker Ella Piskorz, senior outside hitter Astrid Puig and Raymond fired off any last attempts from Pacific, according to Pepperdine Athletics.
With a score of 18-12, Pepperdine put the nails in the coffin when the Waves sparked a 7-2 run to secure their set victory. Pepperdine finished the final set with a score of 25-14.

The Waves outnumbered the Tigers 39-19 in kills and 11-4 in blocks, according to Pepperdine Athletics.
Beauer led the night with 12 kills and Pravednikov trailed shortly behind with 11 kills. The duo combined for a team-high 18 attacks and was responsible for 13.5 of the team’s total points, according to Pepperdine Athletics.

The team returned to Firestone Fieldhouse on Oct. 3 to host Saint Mary’s College and honor the program’s alumni by converting into “Flashback Firestone.” The Waves’ winning streak was snapped by the Gaels as Pepperdine dropped 3-1.
