Korn and Kibrough saying “baby, baby, baby”
It’s not even spring yet and there is already talk of babies in the air. Several Pepperdine staff members are expecting little ones in the coming months.
In fact, Nicole Korn is expecting a newborn any day now, although the official due date is Feb. 10.
Korn, who works in the Financial Aid office, was supposed to take her maternity leave several weeks ago.
“The pregnancy has gone so well so far that I have been able to continue working,” Korn said. “I really want to be there for my students since the beginning of the semester is always so busy.”
Picking out clothing and baby supplies is a little difficult because Korn and her husband do not know yet whether their first child will be a boy or a girl.
“At about six months into my pregnancy I had an ultrasound done but the baby’s legs were so close together that they couldn’t really tell the gender,” Korn said.
The doctors said that if they had to guess, the baby would be a girl.
However, Korn and her husband already have names picked out for both options.
If the baby is a boy they will name him Spencer and if she is a girl, Trinity.
Korn said that although she has heard of the incredible pain involved in giving birth, the lifetime of joy that comes with having a child will definitely make any pain worth it.
“Having a baby has always been a dream of mine and I am just so thankful that my lifelong dream is soon going to become a reality,” Korn said. “I am just hoping the delivery will be as good as the pregnancy.”
Right across the hall in the Thornton Administrative Center, Student Services Adviser Dara Kimbrough is expecting two bundles of joy. Kimbrough, who works at OneStop, is pregnant with twin girls.
Abigail and Emma are due to arrive sometime in April.
“We are very excited to be having twins,” Kimbrough said. “At first it seemed very overwhelming, but now we feel very blessed.”
Some people say having two little ones at the same time would be too much work, but Kimbrough disagrees.
“We are excited and look forward to all of the blessings and challenges ahead of us,” Kimbrough said.
