First date airs on TLC’s ‘A Dating Story’
After much anticipation over how TLC would portray her in “A Dating Story,” senior Jennifer Flannery was finally able to see the premiere on channel 25 Tuesday at 1 p.m.
“I was nervous because during three days of taping you say a lot of stuff,” Flannery said. “But they portrayed me pretty well, didn’t make me look like an idiot and so I am happy with how it turned out.”
Flannery was surrounded by approximately 50 students and several of her professors in the Sandbar while she watched her television debut. The taping had been done late last September.
Unfortunately, Flannery’s mom was skiing and her dad was in a business meeting, but Flannery said she had taped the show and was planning on giving her parent’s a copy of it. “Overall I was pleasantly surprised at how everything turned out because it took a lot of convincing to get me to do it in the first place,” Flannery said.
“A Dating Story” matched Flannery with her date, Moorpark College student Joel Beckman because of their mutual love of animals. Flannery is a marine biology major, while Beckman is learning how to train exotic animals at Moorpark. The episode showed Beckman kissing a baboon named Rosy and explaining to her that he had to go on a blind date.
Although the couple got along well and the show ended with the comment “love is in the air,” Flannery said the relationship never got off the ground.
Actress marries country singer in Pep chapel
Actress Kimberly Williams recently lived out her role as Annie in “Father of the Bride” when she married country western singer Brad Paisley in Stauffer Chapel March 15. “It was a beautiful and intimate ceremony,” said Kimberly Ho who organizes wedding reservations for the Chapel. Williams currently plays Dana on the ABC sitcom “According to Jim.” Paisley’s country song hits include “I Wish You’d Stay” and “I’m Gonna Miss Her,” which earned a Best Male Country Vocal Performance Grammy nomination this year. However, one question still remains: Will Williams live out her role in “Father of the Bride II” and become a mother?
