Traffic Related – Traffic

Enforcement – Reckless Driving

Location: Seaver Drive

Summary: A student reported observing a vehicle driving unsafely failing to yield to a pedestrian.

 

1/29/14 9:31 p.m.

Service Calls – Animal Call – Dog

Location: Raleigh Runnels Pool

Summary: There was a report of a dog attacking a deer. Public Safety officers and animal control responded. The dog and owner had left the area prior to officers arriving on scene.

 

1/30/14 7:21 a.m.

Incidents – Suspicious Person

Location: Drescher Student Housing Apartments

Summary: A Public Safety officer responded to a report of a suspicious person. The individual was identified as a current graduate student.

 

1/30/14 9:29 a.m.

Incidents – Suspicious Circumstances

Location: Hall 7 – James W. Fifield

Summary: A staff member reported discovering that a wood log had been placed in a gas fireplace inside a lobby dorm.

Incidents – Suspicious Circumstances

Location: Drescher Student Housing Apartments

Summary: A student reported that an unknown individual, portraying themselves as a talent scout, convinced a student to model on Skype.

Fire/Hazards – Gas Leak Inside a Structure

Location: Richard Rockwell Towers

Summary: There was a report of a possible odor of natural gas inside of a building. Public Safety officers and Facilities Services responded. Facilities Services determined the source of odor was a skunk.

 

1/31/14 10:53 a.m.

Fire/Hazards – Gas Leak Inside a Structure

Location: Cultural Arts Center

Summary: There was a report of an odor of natural gas in a building. Public Safety officers and Facilities Services responded. Facilities Services determined that the source of the odor was a leaf blower being used near a building air intake.

 

2/1/14 2:04 a.m.

Incidents – Welfare Check

Location: Hall 12 – Walter Knott House

Summary: A private limo driver for hire reported that a student under the influence of alcohol abruptly entered another vehicle after they failed to pay for the ride. The driver was not concerned about the payment, but did express a concern about the welfare of the student. Public Safety officers made contact with the student and verified he/she was OK.

 

2/1/14 3:55 p.m.

Incidents – Property Damage – Non-Criminal

Location: Phillips Theme Tower Lot

Summary: A visitor accidentally drove a vehicle through the exit lane in the wrong direction over the tire spike strip causing one flat tire.

 

2/1/14 5:41 p.m.

Traffic Related – Traffic – Skateboarding On-Campus

Location: Drescher Campus Parking Structure

Summary: There was a report of students skateboarding in the Drescher campus parking structure. Public Safety officers located the students and informed them of the university policies forbidding skateboarding on campus.

 

2/1/14 5:56 p.m.

Incidents – Suspicious Circumstances

Location: Firestone Fieldhouse

Summary: A staff member reported receiving information about a possible attempt by a student to sell unauthorized clothing at the Firestone Fieldhouse.
