Campus Recreation took a group of 25 students to Big Sur this past weekend. The students drove north after classes Friday evening and camped out in Pfeiffer State Park, just off the PCH, for two nights.
Activities included hiking, hammocking, swimming and marshmallow roasting. Junior Jared Chumsae and freshmen Gus Schillaci and Tory Knoepfel led the trip.
The trip cost students $40, which included transportation, gear rental, food and campsites.
During the fall semester, Campus Recreation organized a trip to Joshua Tree National Park for a weekend. These trips are meant as an affordable way “to allow students to get their feet wet with different outdoor activities and see what they like,” Chumsae said.
The next Campus Recreation trip is the spring God in the Wilderness trip to Mammoth Mountain.
The trip will be five days during Spring Break and will be worth four convocation credits.
For sign up information, visit the Campus Recreation office downstairs in the HAWC.
