9/4/13 5:07 p.m.

Incidents – Heat and Smoke Alarm

Location: Ahmanson Music Building

Summary: A fire alarm smoke detector was activated. Public Safety officers and the LA County Fire Department responded and determined the cause was an air compressor motor that started to fail, causing the mechanical room to fill with smoke.

Incidents – Disturbance – Loud Noise

Location: Hall 8 – Pauley House

Summary: Public Safety officers responded to an excessive noise complaint outside a dorm after designated quiet hours. The students were warned. No further complaints were received.

Traffic Related – Hit and Run, Non-Injury Accident

Location: Facilities Management & Planning

Summary: A staff member returned to a University vehicle and noticed new damage. The responsible party left no contact information at the scene. Minor damage was reported.

 

9/5/13 8:57 p.m.

Incidents – Welfare Check 

Location: Off-Campus Location

Summary: A parent reported a concern about the safety of their daughter who was studying abroad. Public Safety contacted the International Program director for assistance.

 

9/6/13 4:03 p.m.

Traffic Related – Traffic Enforcement – Vehicle Stop

Location: Seaver Drive

Summary: A Public Safety Officer issued a citation to a driver of a vehicle for driving unsafely while talking on a cell phone.

 

9/6/13 5:41 p.m.

Traffic Related – Hit and Run, Non-Injury Accident

Location: Richard Rockwell Towers Lot

Summary: A student returned to their vehicle and noticed new damage. The responsible party left no contact information at the scene. Minor damage was reported.

 

9/6/13 9:51 p.m.

Drugs and Alcohol Related

Incidents – Drunk in Public

Location: Seaver Drive

Summary: Public Safety officers responded to a loud noise complaint. The reporting party believed that the responsible parties were probably under the influence of alcohol. They did not exhibit any signs of consuming alcohol and were warned to stay quiet after quiet hours.

 

9/7/13 3:52 a.m.

Departmental – Found Property

Location: Center for Communications and Business

Summary: A found wallet was turned in to Public Safety.

 

9/7/13 6:50 a.m.

Incidents – Heat and Smoke Alarm

Location: George Page Residential Complex

Summary: A fire alarm smoke detector was activated. There was no fire. This was a local alarm that did not require the entire building to evacuate or a response from the LA County Fire Department. The cause was determined to be excessive smoke from food burning on a stovetop.

 

9/7/13 12:59 p.m.

Crimes – Vandalism

Location: Richard Rockwell Towers

Summary: A staff member found a broken door handle on the floor. A locksmith was dispatched for repairs.
