The best thing about the All-American Rejects besides lead Tyson Ritter’s high cheekbones is their cookie-cutter pop-emo sound. The Reject’s tremendously bratty yet persistently hooky singles have secured the quartet’s high position on the Billboard charts as well as on iTunes top songs.
Oklahoma based rock band made their debut on the music scene in 2002 breaking young girls hearts and inspiring young men to wear their hearts on their sleeves. They hurled themselves into mainstream success with their first album “The All-American Rejects and after their second album catapulted them to top pop rock band success there was no turning back. The band’s new record, When the World Comes Down is complete with melodies that don’t get much darker than You’re never comin’ home to me/That’s the hardest thing to see” along with overproduced enhanced pop sounds as featured in “Damn Girl.”
The album’s first single “Gives You Hell takes listeners back to old-school” AAR reminding fans near and far why they fell in love with them in the first place. With catchy beats and easy-to-memorize lyrics this single is bound to do just that – give you hell.
All grown-up still heartbroken and still telling people about it The Rejects are ready to tell the world what they need. “I Wanna is complete with cocky choruses like I want to touch you / you want to touch me too.”
The best thing about this band along with their songs has a lot to do with their ability to find the thin line between rock pop and emo music. They need to be cool enough for the alternative group while still infusing melodies and catchy phrases in order to hook the masses.
Don’t mistake them for Weezer whose sounds are reminiscent of Ritter’s vocals. These boys are simply spreading their wings in hopes of another successful CD.
With beauty a catchy voice and a thousand screaming teen girls this band is in it for the long haul. At least until the next pop-emo boy band comes along to woo the Warped Tour stage. It looks as if the All-American Rejects have found the key to success. While both previous albums have risen to platinum status there’s no need to change now. Yes AAR has a good ear for what the public enjoys and because of that all the tracks sound the same. With the same drum fills and Ritter’s harmonized vocals this album is sure to accompany its fellow albums at the top.
If pop-rock-emo music with easy melodies and cool sounding beats is the music for you then “When the World Comes Down” is just what you’re looking for. If something is needed for thosebeach-cruising wind in the hair days then pop in the CD and hit track titled “Mona Lisa” and set sail. Along with earning top numbers on the charts the Rejects are now scoring points with communities everywhere. The band donated 10% of their profits off this album to Feed the Children yet another reason to support them.
The album was released on December 16 2008 for American fans and will be released in Europe in February (for all you abroad students) and while that seems like years ago this album will be around for a good long while. The standard LP contains twelve tracks and iTunes holds both the deluxe and exclusive versions of the albums.
