FRIGHTENING FACTS: A returning starter and All-WCC selection, who can score inside and out as well as handle the ball, Brazzle finished third on the team in total points and fourth in three-point percentage. Not afraid to crash the boards on either side of the floor, he pulled down 5.1 rebounds a game last year. A reliable scorer and leader, Brazzle is a pin-point accurate shooter who will need to pick up his play on the defensive end.

FRIGHTENING FACTS: The WCC’s preseason pick for “Player of the Year,” Miggins is returning from a year in which he led the team in scoring and rebounding. Lightening quick and just as agile, he forces double-teams and knows how to pass when in trouble (second in assists). This year Miggins will be given the responsibility of guarding the opposing team’s top scorer, and will need to continue to hit the boards hard.

FRIGHTENING FACTS: With Dan Dickau of Gonzaga now in the NBA, Montogomery is expected to be the WCC’s best point guard. Dangerous from anywhere beyond the arc, he also utilizes a quick first step to get him to the basket and the foul line. Noted for his unselfish play and court vision, Montgomery is a big-game player. He scored a career-best 27 points against Gonzaga in the WCC championship game.

FRIGHTENING FACTS: A hardworking player who adds depth to the frontline of the Waves, Johnson can bang underneath, but has developed an outside jump shot to compliment his game. Will be looked upon to perform as a backup center/forward, especially when the team gets in foul trouble. Has shown big improvements in his three-year career with the Waves, and is a Firestone Fieldhouse fan favorite.

FRIGHTENING FACTS: After two years of coming off the bench, Kimble will be the Waves starting big man this season. A fearless player with great desire, his agility and size should make him the a consistent scorer in the paint. He has worked hard in the off-season to improve his low-post offensive moves and develop his upper-body strength. The Waves will need Kimble to fill in the defensive gap left open by Cedric Suitt.

FRIGHTENING FACTS: “Big Game” McGowan as they are calling him will be a crucial factor in the success of the Waves frontline. He has NBA-type strength and size to dominate in the key, but has the shooting ability and ball handling skills to beat teams outside. A physical player, the Waves will need McGowan not only to score, but to perform on the glass and on the defensive side of the ball.

FRIGHTENING FACTS: This coach’s son has got game. Westphal emerged late in the season as a fan favorite because of his deadly accuracy from from beyond the arc. He contributed nine points off the bench in the WCC championship game against Gonzaga. A sound, fundamental player with a silky smooth-shooting touch, Westphal will provide the Waves a reliable spark off the bench with his ability to create instant offense.

FRIGHTENING FACTS: Last year’s WCC “Freshman of the Year” returns for his sophomore campaign with a solid chance of making the starting lineup. Known for his big-playmaking capability, he was the team’s second leading scorer and it’s top three-point shooter. He led the team in scoring in eight games last year, including putting down 21 in the team’s midseason upset of rival Gonzaga.

FRIGHTENING FACTS- A multi-dimensional talent with the ability to jump right out of the gym, Turner should vie for playing time among the team’s talented frontline. He can score inside and out, but is most exciting when running on the break and putting his incredible athleticism to use. He will add much needed rebounding and shot-blocking ability. Turner won the preseason dunk contest during Midnight Madness.

FRIGHTENING FACTS: A redshirt freshman, word on the street is that this kid may be the team’s most talented all-around player. An explosive scorer and playmaker, Acker will challenge Terrence Johnson for a starting spot in the Waves backcourt, but he can also be used at the point. He is an excellent perimeter shooter who is comfortable using quick first step to get to the basket. Acker can rebound strong as well.

FRIGHTENING FACTS: The lone international player on the team, Hazut is one of seven Waves newcomers. A native of Israel who recently spent time in the Israeli army, he is a hard-nosed competitor with confidence in his game. A solid ball-handler, passer and shooter, Hazut has extensive international game experience and will look to battle several returning players for time in the Waves backcourt.

FRIGHTENING FACTS: An incoming recruit from Riverside, Calif., Lea looks to earn playing time off the bench, primarily at the two-guard. A highly touted player in high school, he has excellent perimeter shooting and the quickness and handling to get to the rim for a basketball or a pass. He scored 25.9 points per game and pulled down 5.8 rebounds in his senior campaign.

FRIGHTENING FACTS: A freshman big-man from Grapevine, Texas, Grubb could see more time than any other incoming player as the Waves will need him to perform as a back-up center to Kimble. He provides the Waves frontline with additional bulk and depth, and is a solid rebounder at both ends of the floor.

FRIGHTENING FACTS: An incoming recruit from Longmont, Colo., Horning is a multi-dimensional player who has the handles to play the guard position but also has the size to mix it up inside with the big guys. Horning is a fundamentally sound ballplayer who should contend for game action as a back-up small forward.

FRIGHTENING FACTS: A freshman recruit, Patten can perform a number of facets in the game. Last year, he averaged 19.3 points, 7 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 3.2 blocks at El Dorado High School in Placentia, Calif. An outstanding perimeter shooter, Patten should excel in the Waves up-tempo style of play.

FRIGHTENING FACTS: Pinegar transferred to Pepperdine from Brigham Young University this year, and must redshirt in accordance with NCAA rules. A highly recruited player out of high school, Pinegar has been plagued by injures during his college career. He is an extremely skilled offensive player and steady rebounder.
