Sheriffs from the Lost Hills sheriff’s department have arrested a man whose appearance and DNA match that found at the scene of the an attempted rape at Point Dume.
Christian Marcus Verdin31 was arrested in San Bernadino according to the Associated Press.
The woman who was jogging when she was attacked at noon on March 12 jumped off a cliff to escape her attacker but he left enough DNA evidence to make the match relatively certain according to Watch Sergeant Dan Nagelmann of the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station.
The suspect was arrested in San Bernadino County at about 3:30 p.m. Friday because he matched a police sketch of the attacker and he arrived at the station at 4:30 Nagelmman said.
“It’s all just transpired in the last hour and a half he said. We’ll know more soon.”
A press conference was scheduled for 5 p.m. More details are expected to be announced then.
