After coming within minutes of Pepperdine earlier this week British graffiti artist Banksy appears to be working his way down the Southern California coast tagging a taco shop in Oceanside sometime overnight. Because Banksy’s official website has not claimed the work as his yet there is speculation over its authenticity and San Diego news websites are abuzz with conjecture.
The side of Bull Taco now sports a rat flying a kite in the shape of a street sign depicting a family of illegal immigrants running towards safety — a familiar sign in the Camp Pendleton area. The precautionary sign for motorists traveling on Interstate 5 has been modified to include a kite in the father’s hand changing the tone of the image entirely.
It is still unclear if Banksy’s visit is meant to coincide with the Academy Awards where his documentary “Exit Through the Gift Shop has been nominated for best documentary.
