Dear Editor,
I am quite disturbed about the lack of enthusiasm by some students, faculty and administrators at Pepperdine in Malibu. I graduated from Pepperdine in 1981, which was some time ago.
Those years were among the best years in my life. However, even in the “stone age,” I remember the lackluster attendance to many of the basketball games.
I have always been a die-hard fan of Pepperdine basketball. In my humble opinion, I have never seen a squad so talented in a very long time. Yet, when I watched the home game against Loyola Marymount on my television set, I was devastated to see that half of Firestone Fieldhouse was empty!
When I flipped the channel to watch another game by two mid-level conference teams, the gym was packed “to the rims.” Here at Pepperdine, we have one of the most talented coaches in the NCAA. We need to support and impress him with all of our support.
Oh yeah, I am not going to let the college sales and marketing department slip out of this one. I am putting the blame on you too. You are missing opportunities.
Get on the ball!
