The electrician injured during an electrical fire at the new Center for Communication and Business was released from the Sherman Oaks Burn Center Monday, still recuperating from burns and a chipped elbow he suffered during the Feb. 13 incident.
Jose Guzman, an employee of Mac Electric, is reportedly in “fine spirits and good condition” after he was flown to UCLA Medical Center with second-degree burns to his hands and a broken elbow, according to the Pepperdine Office of Public Relations and News.
The fire, which was promptly extinguished by a combination of Pepperdine and L.A. County Fire Department response team members, ignited in the Public Safety wing of the building.
Central Plant Operations has not yet released a damage report, but initial reports estimated that damage was limited to one room.
Completion of the center is still on schedule for April, and Seaver College’s two largest divisions are expected to move in as expected in June.
