Our Fab Five Student Fashion Looks of the Week
Last week while going to class, work, and activities we spotted lots of great fashion on campus. We took pictures of the top five student fashion looks that we saw to feature on our blog! See which fellow classmates made our list this week and why:
Lauren’s Fab 5:
Who: Anna Tullis
What She Wore: Steve Madden boots, top shop dress
Why I Love It: As a past participant in Pepperdine’s London program it was great to see Anna rockin’ the Topshop brand. Paired with her military-grunge accessories and boho belt and hair, Anna strikes the perfect balance between edginess and laid-back comfort!
Anna: “I wish we had a Topshop in Malibu!”
Who: Sydney Papenhausen
What She Wore: Forever 21 shirt, Steve madden shoes, Urban Outfitters jeans, Forever 21 necklace
Why I Love It: Collared shirts are one of Fall’s biggest fashion trends and the polka dots are a nice reprieve from the usual pastel colors seen all over campus nowadays. I also love the Kim Kardashian-esque necklace!
Sydney: “I have a recent obsession with sheer button ups and collars.”
Who: Melissa Rosenthal
What She Wore: BCBG dress, Betsey Johnson shoes, H&M jacket, Banana Republic jewelry
Why I Love It: First off-DIGGING the all gold accessories! It especially pops paired with an all black ensemble. This look is so dynamic. You can take it from school to work to downtown LA on a Friday night without having to change a thing!
Melissa: “With this look I’m definitely professional presentation ready.”
Who: Mercedes Fernandes and Nicole Vanderiet
What They Wore: Mercedes-All Forever 21; Nicole-BCBG dress, Guess purse
Why I Love It: Mercedes-She knows how to take advantage of her LBD and in this case the Coachella meets flapper look is a FANTASTIC outfit choice for a weekend get together with friends; Nicole-As a lover of all clothes girly, flowing, and bright this look is a no brainer. The tucked in top gives her a chance to show off her curves and small waistline to complete her fun, flirty look.
Mercedes: “I cut the sleeves off this dress myself and my ring is a vintage opal piece that my grandmother gave me.”
Nicole: “Everything is better shorter!”
Chyra’s Fab 5:
Name: Cynthia
Year: Sophomore
Fashion Highlights: What I appreciated most about Cynthia’s look was that it was simple yet distinctive. Her entire outfit was a basic black dress paired with silver accessories and footwear. What took her look to the next level was the back style of her dress, featuring a small cutout toward her lower back. It is a very subtle highlight that adds an element of surprise and edge to the look by it’s placement. This is a great example of how to show skin in a CLASSY manner, which Cynthia pulled off flawlessly. Looking good, girl!
Name: Callie
Year: Freshman
Fashion Highlight: I’m a big fan of dresses and I really liked what Pepperdine Freshman, Callie, was wearing to class this week. The dress is full cute, small details from the highlights of yellow lace to the three white buttons leading preceding the empire waistline. These style attributes, paired with the small grey and white horizontal stripes, give the impression of a modern vintage look. Callie told me that her all time favorite looks are inspired by East Coast fashion and that she really tends to favor “preppy looks”. Way to represent the East Coast here in Cali, Callie!
Name: Serena
Year: Senior
Fashion Highlights: My favorite part of Serena’s outfit is her shirt. It is a nice long length that works well with her khaki shorts and petite statue. The deep royal blue in contrast to the light bottoms also gives a nice visual to the overall appearance. However, my favorite details is located at the top of the shirt where small brass buttons are lined at the bottom of the top tier. The small and subtle detail of these accents adds a nice touch to the neckline. Serena definitely looked cute AND comfy roaming around the CCB this week!
Name: Stephanie
Year: Senior
Fashion Highlight: What stands out most about Stephanie’s look to me is the COLOR, making her noticeable in a good way. She pairs a “Legally Blonde” pink top with pale yellow skinny jeans and gold accessories, creating a harmonious blend of shades. The boldness of the pink fits the yellow bottoms, which are toned down and balance the look well. Her gold watch, gladiator shoes, and dangling earrings help add variety to the outfit without overdoing it. Mixing color is always a bold move in fashion but Steph makes it look easy!
Name: Miluska
Year: Senior
I liked Miluska’s outfit because it was a casual mix of colors and style. She paired a coral tank with white shorts, loosely covering it all with a denim flannel. My favorite outfits are one’s that are simple to create and take in, much like what she is wearing. I love how there are a mix of summery colors and the flannel gives the whole look a casual, Carrie Underwood vibe. Straight and to the point, Miluska is showing off an everyday look that is flattering for everyone!
