Cornicopia Corner Blog 2
Hello again kind reader!
Now when you were a child did you like to play outside? Personally I feel as though I lived in my tree house for the first decade or so of my life… those were such blissful afternoons enveloped in lush leaves and heady sunshine. To be honest I never grew out of it…. I think those endless hours engulfed in fresh air are the reason I have a passion for the outdoors today.
Come be a part of The Cornucopia Foundation’s movement to encourage this love of nature in young people!
This Saturday a fun group of volunteers will be helping to maintain and beautify The Environmental Learning Center and you are invited to join us! It’s going to be a fun afternoon of hands-on work and fear not the labor won’t be extremely intense. Primarily we will be painting and staining a laboratory section of a classroom so that children can use it to learn about ecology and sustainability.
(If you need service hours for another organization such as a Greek group besides providing the Environmental Learning Center with much-needed help this event will be a fun way to earn those.)
Pepperdine Students:meet in Rho Parking Lot this Saturday October 23 at 1:45pm if you would like to carpool to the site; we will be back at 6pm at the very latest. If you can’t commit your entire afternoon please join us anyway! For those of you driving yourselves to the Center meet us in the parking lot of Malibu High School.
This is going to be a wonderful afternoon… see you there! (and check back in a couple of days for photos!)
With Love and Kindness

Cornicopia Corner Blog 1
Hello kind reader!
Welcome to Cornucopia Corner! This little spot on the web is a special one; it is dedicated to the planet Earth and ways to love on it especially if you are a Pepperdine student. First though here’s a bit about Cornucopia and what we do:
The Cornucopia Foundation is a Malibu-based nonprofit focused on ecological conservation. I the voice behind this blog am a Pepperdine student who also happens to be a dedicated Cornucopia volunteer. We run an environmental education center located near Malibu high school in order to teach young people about the Earth and instill within them a passion for its protection. We sustain this mission financially by running a farmer’s market in Malibu every Sunday whose proceeds go straight to the environmental education center. The market in itself is a celebration of nature; it allows small ecologically-oriented farmers and food vendors the opportunity to share their goods… and really it’s just a delicious place.
This blog is a place where every week a new way to love on this earth will be posted. This may come in the form of opportunities for activism or volunteer work (with Cornucopia Foundation or otherwise) awareness of environmental causes and issues or simply new ideas for enjoying the beautiful outdoors. The metaphorical thread connecting this variety of information is that no matter what is posted it is within your power to get involved– even if you’re “just” a student.
The Cornucopia Foundation will have our own booth at Orange and Blue Madness this Friday October 15! Come visit us to learn more about what we do how you can get involved pick up one of our fabulous new brochures and have a free treat in the process! Orange and Blue Madness will also host a few other earth-friendly vendors worth checking out. The Pepperdine GreenTeam will be making an appearance (serving tasty ginger shots) as will a handful of Farmer’s Market Vendors such as my personal favorite Malibu Pies.
See you there! And check back here on this blog next week for some more exciting eco-blogging!
