In remembrance of September 11th the Pepperdine College Republicans hosted a lecture with Robert “Buzz” Patterson former senior military advisor under Bill Clinton at the School of Law that evening.
Vice President of College Republicans Zac Parsons said his organization hoped that Mr. Patterson’s unique insight would help fellow Waves gain a new perspective about that day.
“He is an excellent speaker Parsons said. We chose him because he brings a different view [about 9/11] to Pepperdine.”Patterson a prominent figure in the military world utilized his past military career and personal experiences to give Pepperdine students a comprehensive look into the events that plagued that tragic September day. He explained that his 9/11 experience was “emotional” first because of his involvement in the Clinton presidency and revealed a personal story about how a very close friend suffered the loss of both parents that day.
With regard to policy he discussed how the issue of Al Qaeda could have been dealt with earlier on. In addition to Patterson’s commemoration lecture in the evening a prayer service was also held that morning at Heroes Garden in honor of those lost that day.
